Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Old Valley Muster returns to the Kimberley in May 2021 for an epic 9-day event.

Officially named the Argyle Diamonds Ord Valley Muster, the region’s biggest annual festival promises more than 30  stellar events across a 9-day schedule, welcoming more than 10,000 locals and visitors. The festival will take place in the town of Kununurra, the gateway the East Kimberley, where endless hiking, camping and 4WD adventures await.

Festival-goers can expect a non-stop program of music, comedy and performing acts at the Festival Hub, located at Celebrity Tree Park. Here, you’ll find yourself in walking distance of great food venues and accommodation.

What’s on at the Ord Valley Muster 2021?

A mix of free and ticketed events will take place throughout the festival. Past performances have included sets from Paul Kelly, Jimmy Barnes, Amy Shark and Bernard Fanning. This year is set to draw some big names to the ballot, too.

The pinnacle event, the Aviair HeliSpirit Kimberley Moon Experience welcomes Jessica Mauboy, Busby Marou, Emily Wurramara and DJ Feline to open the festival with a string of live performances over the night.

On Friday 28th, bring the kids along for Party in the Park. It’s a family-friendly event where performances from the community will be going down until dark.

Saturday 29th will see the largest rodeo in the Kimberley kick off. Watch local cowboys attempt the nerve-wracking 8 second bull ride, enjoy live entertainment and peruse the pop-up food venues.

If you’re keen to explore your artsy side, head over to the Waringarri Art Centre Experience. Here, you can join local artists for a tour of the centre, learning about the creation of traditional textiles and art pieces. You’ll even get to design your own carry bag to take home.

To take you experience even higher, treat yourself to a hell pub experience with HeliSpirit. You’ll get to visit some of the East Kimberley’s most iconic sights – places that few people ever have the privilege of experiencing.

Getting to the Ord Valley Muster 2021

Domestic flights are available from all major Australian cities via Darwin, Broome and Perth.

If you’re keen to make it a road trip, Kununurra is about 10.5 hours from Broome, or 6.5 hours from Katherine in the Northern Territory.

But the real adventure lies in the scenic route. The Great Gibb River Road is an iconic Australian outback experience. The multi-day adventure along unsealed roads through some of WA’s most challenging terrain will be the ultimate precursor to an awesome event.
